Volunteer
I want to donate my time to help people in my community affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.
Volunteer of the Month
Kaitlyn
Featured Volunteer of the Month: December 2024
Volunteer Start Date: July 2024
Time Served: 143 Hours
Kaitlyn is currently attending California State University Chico and is finishing up the last year of her bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a minor in child development. Kaitlyn splits her time between volunteering at Catalyst, working at Dutch Bros, being an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, and running for the Chico State track team.
Kaitlyn decided to choose Catalyst as the organization she wanted to intern with for her school requirement. When Kaitlyn was asked the questions: why did you choose to intern with Catalyst? She responded by saying “I wanted to be an intern at Catalyst because I believe that survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault should have a nonjudgemental place to reach out, that is welcoming to people from all different backgrounds. I believe everyone deserves love that doesn’t hurt and I feel lucky to be volunteering at a place that fosters this belief.”
Kaitlyn says her most memorable part of interning with Catalyst is the daily interactions she gets to have while supporting people staying at HAVEN Shelter. She also really enjoys being a part of community tabling events and helping with special events put on at the shelter, such as, the Halloween Carnival and HAVEN Thanksgiving Dinner.
Fun Facts: Fun Facts: Kaitlyn’s favorite foods include sushi from Big Tuna or different types of pasta dishes. Her favorite way to spend her free time (if she is not working out) is by painting or going on some sort of adventure/hiking. Kaitlyn is currently applying to graduate school, and her future goal is to either work as a sports psychologist or become a therapist that specializes in attachment styles.
